Hyperbolic Space, Global Warming & Crochet
If you're thinking to do something with hyperbolic space or global warming, you might want to check this out: http://www.ted.com/talks/margaret_wertheim_crochets_the_coral_reef.html
I'd heard of Daina Taimina's crochet model of hyperbolic space before, because her coauthor (and romantic partner?) David Henderson, also at Cornell, is developing geometry curriculum with The Algebra Project, which is one of my favorite organizations ever. But Mararet Wertheim just took it to a whole new level with the explicit feminist angle and the amazing biology tie-in. Exciting!
Jesse this is awesome.
